God’s double rainbow

July 10, 2008

A couple of light of God moments today at VBS –

One 6 year old boy looked up at me today and said, “I believe in God, do you know that?”

When my 5 year old daughter and I were driving home from VBS and saw a double rainbow and got to talk about how she’d drawn a rainbow to God on her quilt and now God was drawing her a rainbow to remind her of God’s love for us.

When a 9 year old girl told me, “this church is great! I love these kids! and her making a quilt square that says “VBS ROCKS!”,

When I get to see a boy who has trouble making friends working hard to make friends with another boy.

When I see Jenn rockin’ out singing with the kids and helping the kids work through their “stuff” together.

This is such a week full of hope and promise– for these kids who many have never heard these Bible stories and otherwise wouldn’t be having lunch AND breakfast. I just thank each of you for being so present this week for these kids.

In Peace, Darc

New to blog

July 8, 2008

I like the idea of a blog site for CCU, Lowell. I am not sure how to use it but will try this post to see if it works. Should I be adding to the Light of God comment or starting a new comment such as this? Anyhow, thank to Pastor Pete for the 5 point summary at the end of the sermon today, cause I was getting confused; i.e. should we not vary from our traditional form of worship or should we feel free to try new things in worship? So the summary kind of helped me put it together.

I saw God in WORM

July 7, 2008

Back in April 2008, my church, Christ Church United in Lowell (www.cculowell.org), embarked on a new way of doing Christian Education for youth. Our Christian Ed. Director, Jenn Macy, introduced us to W.O.R.M. (Workshop Rotation Model).

Our youth amaze me and the experience to be with them for a month was something I’ll never forget. The diversity of kids and ages and ideas made it so meaningful to be present with them. The kids were so filled with the spirit of God that the congregation could literally hear their laughter and excitement in the sanctuary. I feel blessed to be a part of this ministry.

Check out this video which tells the story better than I ever could…

In Peace,

Chris
