Autumn Newsletter – Christ Church United in Lowell, September 200

PASTOR’S MESSAGE

So don’t be anxious about tomorrow.

God will take care of your tomorrow too.

Live one day at a time.

- Matthew 6:34

I give thanks to God for this time of new beginnings. I have had a fruitful and relaxing summer. July brought Vacation Bible School, ChristCare, and the near conclusion of our VisionQuest. August began with the Pan Mass Challenge bicycle ride and ended with a wonderful week with the family in Williamsburg, VA.

I am grateful to all of you for the way you have cared for one another through worship, prayer and support. I am very glad that school has now begun and routines are emerging.

We have so much to look forward to as we strengthen our household of faith. No doubt, there will be times of stress and disagreement as we forge a new path. However, I’m not worried. We must not allow ourselves to get ahead of ourselves. Implementing our vision will take patience, discernment and…God’s timing. I hope and pray we’re able to live into today – this day - as a people of God. By doing this, we will be able to celebrate God’s blessings and continue as living-vessels for the Holy Spirit, and be true to God’s Word.

Read this newsletter thoroughly, and see what opportunities there are for you to grow your faith.

Faithfully Yours,

Pastor Peter

God’s peace be with you!

September 15, 2008

Thanks to so many of you, our summer (June & July) at CCU was filled with important programs and opportunities for growth.  Our witness to God, through VBS, ChristCare, and VisionQuest, was life-giving to all who were involved.  There were many (too many to name) participants who helped to make our summer so great.  Thank you.  Thank them!

I’m very excited about the fall at CCU.  I’m grateful for what we’ve accomplished, and excited about what, together, GOD is doing (and will do!) through us.  At July’s end, I was a bit overwhelmed.  August provided a respite for me.  One highlight was our family trip to Williamsburg, VA.  Williamsburg contrasted with the thrilling roller coaster rides at Busch Gardens made for a great week.

As summer gives way to fall, and CCU re-gathers again, my hope is that we will be at peace with that we’ve accomplished, be at peace with the course we’ve set for our future, and be at peace with one another.  God willing, we’ll do what God is calling us to do…well.  God willing, we will care for ourselves, our ChristCare group members, our elders, those with spiritual or health concerns, care for our leaders…everyone!  May God bless us with listening ears, willing hands, and grace-filled gestures.

In the days ahead we will:

-reconvene our Teaching Parish Committee, and welcome a new Field Education student, Elaine Cavanaugh

-retreat with leaders (9/28) for an afternoon of goal-setting

-grow our contemporary worship ministry

-grow our church school through WORM

-seek ways to be more responsive to the needs of our teenagers

-hear from the Parker Foundation re. our request for additional funding for 2009

We have so much to be grateful.

Let us rejoice and give thanks.

Let us be at peace with all God has in store for us.

Faithfully,

Paster Peter

Welcome Home to Christ Church United in Lowell!

September 6, 2008

Christ Church United in Lowell (CCU) welcomes members, friends, and visitors back as we kick off a new season.  This Sunday (Sept. 7) at 10am, the Intergenerational Music Team will be leading us with some great upbeat music.  As well, since the first Sunday of each month is Intergenerational Sunday, the youth will join us for the entire service.  Pastor Peter Lovett will be leading us in a new creative form of worship where we will break off into Family circles to reflect on our summer and to center ourselves spiritually for the coming year.

Come join us as we work to make Jesus smile!
